When working with teens, Jess’s primary focus initially is to build rapport. Sometimes, teens are willing and ready for counseling; however, many times, they can be resistant. Creating a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing is crucial before introducing tools and strategies. Jess consistently models regulation tools while meeting the teen where they are at in counseling.

Once we have established a rapport and work towards nervous system regulation the individual is better able to access helpful tools and strategies in moments of anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, and stress. Tools and grounding techniques help teens manage ADHD, depression, anxiety, transitions and more.
